Occupy Wall Street

This is What a Revolution Looks Like

The Occupy Wall Street movement might just save us from corporate rule. It’s gratifying to see the movement spread from city to city, to watch as the number of people participating grows daily.

Democracy requires work and it’s been a long time since we’ve fought for our democracy. While we turned our attention elsewhere, corporations took over our government. Even the Supreme Court does their bidding. Without labor unions and an independent press, the little guys are left to fend for themselves. Without a movement behind them, their voices are squelched before they are heard.

Taking back our democracy won’t be easy, but we’ve got to try, and we’ve got to succeed. Together, we can do it. We’ve done it before.

Personally, I’m focusing on repealing the law that makes a corporation a person, and the Citizens United ruling which allows our elections to be sold to the highest bidder. As it stands now, even foreign countries can contribute to our election campaigns. And we “the people” sat by and let it happen.

Here’s some fodder for inspiration. Now get out there and add your voice to the movement. Please.
